_{Step 1: Basic sketch. Nothing special. Preliminary lines, shades, and shadows. I do all my digital sketching in Microsoft Onenote and transfer it to Painttool SAI
Step 2: Basic Lineart. Keeping it simple and focusing on getting all the lines in. I use SAI's vector lineart layers and a regular layer and pen-tool for the eyes. Make a new layer for every item (hair, face/skin,clothes etc.) to keep things organized
Step 3: Not a huge change, just using the pressure tool to make some lines thicker and others thinner.
Step 4: I did the background first here. Just a plain sky with some clouds. Used the brush tool on various settings to get the painterly feel
Step 5: Skin, Hair, and Eye colors. I use a minimum of 3 layers for each: a base layer, 2 shadow layers, and a highlight layer, the shadow and highlight set to clipping group. Other layers can be added for color affect. Eyeshine layer is a single layer above everything (including the lineart)
Step 6: Clothes colors. Use plenty of layers :'D but i keep each article of clothing on a single layer set to preserve opacity and use the brush tool on various settings
Step 7: Add some neat textures and your done! ^^
